2 /LOMBARDPARKS W E L C O M E DEAR RESIDENTS, Winter is the season to spend time together with family, friends, and neighbors to enjoy all holiday festivities and look back on an amazing year. In 2019, the Lombard Park District was selected as a Gold Medal Award Finalist by the National Recreation and Parks Association and received the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. I am honored to announce these achievements heading into 2020 and we will continue to meet incredible standards for the Lombard community. The Lombard Park District is getting ready for another busy winter season, as staff has already been working hard preparing for Jingle Bell Jubilee and Holiday Lights in Lilacia Park. Don't miss the annual tree lighting ceremony and Santa's arrival on December 7 at 5:30 pm. There will be singing, roaming characters, hot cocoa, and cookies for all! Holiday Lights is a FREE event, so bundle up the family and come out for an evening of holiday fun! A full list of upcoming special events can be found in this guide, pages 6-9. As we welcome in the New Year, we encourage you to continue visiting all our facilities and parks. We have a variety of exercise programs and walking paths to keep your fitness routine at your own personal level. If group fitness is more your style during the chilly winter months, check out our fitness schedule on page 48. The Madison Meadow Athletic Center has countless amenities; if you're unsure of what's right for you, make an appointment with one of our personal trainers! The Board of Park Commissioners thanks you for your ongoing support and encourages your input and participation by joining our regular board meetings. Park Board Meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 6:30 pm at Sunset Knoll Recreation Center, 820 S. Finley Road. All residents are invited to attend. Sincerely, Sarah Richardt, President Board of Park Commissioners Lombard Park District The mission of the Lombard Park District is to provide people with quality recreation opportunities to enjoy life.
