Come and immerse yourself in the art of beautiful writing! Using a dip pen and
ink, beginning students will explore Medieval alphabets like Uncial and Gothic
Blackletter, then progress to the intermediate course with Italic, Roman Capitals,
and Modern Brush Lettering. Courses devote time to design application with
small projects like greeting cards, stationary, paper painting, and writing in color.
A supply kit may be purchased from the instructor for $15 on the first day of
class.

See the spectacular Chicago Christmas Lights. Visit the Christkindlmarket at
Daley Plaza to shop for holiday crafts. New this year, enjoy a magical display
at the Museum of Science and Industry's "Christmas Around the World" display.
See the beautiful decorations while yuletide music fills the air. Enjoy a late lunch/
dinner at Lawry's The Prime Rib, a Chicago restaurant legend. The restaurant,
located in the old McCormick Mansion, will be magnificently decorated for the
holidays, affording an unforgettable dining experience. Later, enjoy a narrated
guided tour of the breathtaking Christmas Lights and the Magnificent Mile
Lights Festival along Michigan Avenue. Please note: Trip itinerary is subject to
change. Refunds will not be accepted after 11/20.

SIGN LANGUAGE
(Ages 13+)
Knowing your ABC's is one thing, but have you ever wondered how to sign
them? This course provides the opportunity both to learn sign language and
communicate with it. Our certified deaf education instructor will teach basic
signs and phrases like "good job," or "you're welcome," and ultimately help
you communicate with someone who is deaf or hard of hearing. Please note:
students must purchase "The American Sign Language Phrase Book" by Lou
Fant and Barbara Bernstein Fant by the start of class.

FIRST AID & CPR
(Ages 12+)
Learn to recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac and breathing
emergencies, and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns,
scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, back injuries, head and cold. Online portion
of class must be completed before class and is a two-year certification. Course
fee includes online access to digital version of manual and refresher course.
