GENERAL INFO DEAR RESIDENTS, The leaves have fallen and the winter chill is in the air, which means a new year is coming. This season is a great time to reflect on accomplishments of the District, as well as ways to improve in the upcoming year. Staff puts together a year in review presentation, which will be available on lombardparks.com in late January. I urge our residents to view the presentation online when it becomes available. This year, the Lombard Park District was awarded with the Government Finance Officer's Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its annual operating budget. This award represents significant achievement and reflects on the commitment of the governing body and staff to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive the budget award, the District had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. For additional information, visit the news section on our website: www.lombardparks.com. Throughout the year, you may have seen updates on the Comprehensive Master Plan. The Lombard Park District Board of Park Commissioners and Staff are excited to announce that the plan has been completed and will be available on lombardparks.com for public review by the first of the year. We would like to take a moment to thank our residents for your input and feedback, whether it was partaking in the survey, attending one of our focus groups, or providing suggestions and ideas, your voice has been heard. This working document will assist staff in planning capital projects, program and special event offerings, and community outreach initiatives. On behalf of the Board of Park Commissioners, the Lombard Park District would like to thank Kathleen Hogan for her dedication, hard work and service to the District. After 20 years of service, Commissioner Hogan has resigned from her position on the Board of Park Commissioners. During the November meeting, Jim Scalzo was sworn in to fill the vacancy. The Lombard Park District Board of Park Commissioners and Staff would like to welcome Jim and look forward to working with him. With the holiday season upon us, we're excited for the Holiday Walk Kick-Off Celebration on December 7 from 6-8 pm in Lilacia Park. Enjoy new holiday scenes and additional lights, as well as s'mores and roving Magical Elves. For additional information, visit page 8. Also, be sure to check out a variety of other special events and programs this season, such as the Health Fair and Fitness Expo on page 7 and Winter Carnival on page 6. The Board of Park Commissioners would like to thank you for your continued support. We encourage your input and participation by attending the regular board meetings, which are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at Sunset Knoll Recreation Center. Season's greetings, Gregory Ludwig, President Board of Park Commissioners The mission of the Lombard Park District is to provide people with quality recreation opportunities to enjoy life. 630.620.7322 | www.lombardparks.com
