51 activity guide summer 2015 AMIGOS SPANISH CLUB (Ages 5-10) Learning Spanish is as easy as uno, dos, tres! In Amigos Spanish club children will learn numbers, colors, shapes, greetings, days of the week, and more. We will be singing, clapping, and counting our way towards learning the Spanish language. Each child will receive a participation award. Refunds must be completed three business days before the start of class. Instructor: Afterschool Enrichment Solutions Location: Sunset Knoll Recreation Center Code Day Date Time R/NR Fee 207112-01 M-F 06/29 - 07/03 2:30 - 3:45 pm $85/$95 EVENTS SUMMER SWIM SOIRÉE (Entering grades 6-9) Check out our weekly teen nights every Thursday night at Paradise Bay. While you're swimming and dancing the night away, don't forget about the weekly raffles and pool games for cool prizes. These events are open to all area Middle School age youth. Concessions are available, so bring extra money for snacks! Parent/guardian signature is required for admission to Summer Swim Soirée. Cash only. Bring school ID Pool Pass Holders/Non-Holders: $3/$5 Location: Paradise Bay Water Park Day Dates Time Th 6/11-8/6 8:00-10:00 pm CHESS SCHOLARS CAMP (Ages 5-12) This camp is designed for both beginners and experienced young players. All participants will learn cool new strategies at the appropriate level from a renowned Chess Scholars coach. Each class will consist of a fun interactive teaching period and guided practice time. Children will have the opportunity to test for a Chess Belt under a unique Chess Scholars system patterned after martial arts belts. There will also be a chess competition with prizes! Each camper will take home a chess set and an award. Please bring your own snacks. Every class, each child will learn two or three new skill-based games (no luck or chance involved). Both team and individual games will be played. There will also be a tournament with prizes! Instructor: Afterschool Enrichment Solutions Location: Sunset Knoll Recreation Center Code Day Date Time R/NR Fee 207105-03 M-Sa 08/03 - 08/07 1:00 - 2:30 pm $100/$110 STAGE STARS CAMP (Ages 8-11) Your time to shine, it's acting time! In Stage Stars children will learn theater terms, play games, and act in short skits. During theater games, students will use their creativity to communicate and improvise. The carefully selected skits are based on folk tales that teach cooperation and positive moral values. Every student will have the opportunity to play at least one lead role per session. Also, Stage Stars participants can earn prizes for identifying and explaining parts of a skit and goals of the characters. Each child will receive a participation award. Parents are invited to attend the final performance on the last day of class! Refunds must be completed three business days before the start of class.
