2 /lombardparks Welcome DEAR RESIDENTS, Winter is a time to huddle together family, friends, and neighbors to look back at a wonderful year. In 2017, the Lombard Park District was selected as a Gold Medal Award Finalist by the National Recreation and Parks Association, took first place overall at the Illinois Parks and Recreation Association Marketing Agency Showcase competition, received the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, and the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report Award. I am honored to announce these achievements heading in to 2018 and we will continue to meet incredible standards for the Lombard community. The sounds of winter cheer are growing quickly as staff prepare for Jingle Bell Jubilee and Holiday Lights in Lilacia Park. This year the park will contain over 500,000 lights! Don't miss the annual tree lighting ceremony and Santa's arrival on December 2 at 5:30pm in Lilacia Park. There will be roaming characters, cookies, and hot cocoa for all! Holiday Lights will have many activities including opportunities to meet Rudolph and ride the Gold Medal Express. A full list of activities is online or in the special events section of the Activity Guide, pages 6-9. I'd like to thank everyone this year for joining us in celebrating our 90th anniversary. It is a privilege to serve such an incredible community and offer free activities and events for families of all ages. As construction continues on the new facility, estimated to open July 2018, please visit lombardparks.com or page 46 of the Activity Guide for important updates to the building. The Board of Park Commissioners thanks you for your continued support and encourages your input and participation by attending the regular board meetings, which are held the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm at the Sunset Knoll Recreation Center. Sincerely, David Kundrot, President Board of Park Commissioners Lombard Park District The mission of the Lombard Park District is to provide people with quality recreation opportunities to enjoy life.
