31 lombardparks.com | (630) 620-7322 Dance HIP HOP (Ages 4-15) Learn the latest funky craze in hip hop steps as we jam to the latest trendy music! In this class we will learn the techniques of street dance. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes. Class Will Not Meet On: 11/19, 11/21 Instructor: Ashley Silha (M), Arianna Robertson (W) FAIRY PRINCESS DANCE (Ages 4-6) Learn to dance like a fairy princess! We will incorporate pre-ballet and creative movement techniques as we dance to our favorite princess music. In no time we will transform into one of our favorite princesses! Children must be toilet independent. Ballet shoes required. Class Will Not Meet On: 10/01, 10/06, 11/19, 11/24 Instructor: Rebecca Robertstad LYRICAL CONTEMPORARY I & II (Ages 5-9) This class is a contemporary form of dance that blends ballet, jazz and modern techniques. These classes will include elements such as freedom of expression, interpretation of music, principles of fall and recovery, control, breath and balance. Students will explore self-expression with the use of their own interpretation of music. Lyrical Contemporary I (Ages 5-6): Younger students will work on basic ballet and jazz technique and linking steps together in a final combination. Lyrical Contemporary II (Ages 7-9): Students will continue to build on their ballet and jazz technique while being introduced to basic modern technique including floor work. They will also be working on the fundamentals of leaps and turns. Class Will Not Meet On: 10/01, 11/19 Instructor: Rebecca Robertstad DANCE TEAM TECHNIQUE (Ages 8-14) In this class dancers will work on ballet technique while increasing their strength and flexibility through barre and center exercises. Emphasis will also be placed on improving the fundamental execution of turns and leaps. Each class begins with a strong focus on core strengthening exercises and stretches to help improve and increase hip flexibility. Students will work on balancing techniques as well as posture and body placement for successful completion of turns and leg extensions. This class will not participate in the recital. Class Will Not Meet On: 10/04, 11/22 Instructor: Rebecca Robertstad JAZZ FUNK (Ages 6-9) A little bit of jazz, a little bit of hip hop; your child will learn or review proper jazz technique and across the floor movements and combinations while mixing in hip hop/street style to make it funky! Class Will Not Meet On: 11/19 Instructor: Ashley Silha Location: Sunset Knoll Recreation Center TWIRLING TODDLERS (Ages 2-3 and a parent) Parents can join their tot in this new class where you will explore sound, imagination and movement to dance the class away! Ballet shoes required. One parent per child. No siblings allowed. Class Will Not Meet On: 10/02, 10/06, 11/20, 11/24 Instructor: Rebecca Robertstad INSPIRE DANCE TEAM (Ages 5-14) Join the award winning Inspire Dance Team! The team competes in local competitions in the spring on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as performing in the annual dance recital. Each team will practice twice a week, once for their routine as well as taking a dance technique class. The dance technique class is exclusively for Inspire Dance Team members. In addition to weekly practices, commitment to the team includes the purchase of one costume and warm up jacket. Come to the Dance Open House on August 23, 6:00-7:30pm, to meet your coaches and learn what our dance team is all about! Placement for the team will be held on Saturday, September 8. We encourage all levels of dancers. Class Will Not Meet On: 11/20 Instructor: Lauren Connell, Ashley Silha, Rebecca Robertstad Team Placement Ages Date Time Junior & Senior Jazz Team 9-14 09/08 9:00 am Senior Hip Hop Team 11-14 09/08 11:00 am Junior & Senior Lyrical 9-14 09/08 12:00 pm Mini Jazz 5-8 09/08 12:00 pm *Mini Jazz team does not require team placement, but we encourage you to come at 12:00 to meet your coach Miss Ashley and try a class! DANCE DRESS CODE Appropriate dance attire is required for all dance classes. No jeans, dresses, sandals, or street shoes are allowed. All dancers must wear the following dance shoes to class: black jazz shoes are required for all hip hop and pom/jazz classes, black tap shoes are required for all tap classes, and white or pink ballet shoes are required for all pre-ballet, ballet, and lyrical/contemporary classes.
