2 /lombardparks WELCOME! DEAR RESIDENTS, Reflecting back on a wonderful year of memories, we have plenty to be proud of as a district. In 2018, the Lombard Park District was selected as a Gold Medal Award Finalist by the National Recreation and Parks Association, took first place overall at the Illinois Parks and Recreation Association Marketing Agency Showcase competition, received the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, and staff anticipates receiving the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report Award. I am honored to announce these achievements heading in to 2019 and we will continue to meet incredible standards for the Lombard community. Jingle Bell Jubilee and Holiday Lights are being prepped in the renowned Lilacia Park. The event will display over 500,000 lights! Don't miss the annual tree lighting ceremony and Santa's arrival on December 1 at 5:30pm in Lilacia Park. There will be roaming characters, cookies, and hot cocoa for all! Holiday Lights will have many activities including opportunities to meet seasonal characters and ride the Gold Medal Express. A full list of activities is online or in the special events section of the Activity Guide, pages 6-9. As we welcome in the New Year, we invite you to tour and enjoy the brand new Madison Meadow Athletic Center. The 38,000-square-foot, two-story building's ameneties include: two regulation high school basketball courts, an elevated running track, two large multipurpose rooms/fitness studios, a babysitting room, and a 4,800-square-foot fitness center and locker rooms. It's a great place to get ahead on 2019 fitness resolutions. The Board of Park Commissioners thanks you for your continued support and encourages your input and participation by attending the regular board meetings, which are held the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm at the Sunset Knoll Recreation Center. Sincerely, David Kundrot, President Board of Park Commissioners Lombard Park District The mission of the Lombard Park District is to provide people with quality recreation opportunities to enjoy life.
