58 /lombardparks REGISTRATION AFFILIATE PROGRAMS Several independent organizations use Park District fields and facilities, and/or provide special programs not offered by the Park District. MADISON MEADOW ATHLETIC CENTER The Park District's athletic center center is located at 500 E. Wilson Rd.It includes two regulation high school basketball courts, an elevated running track, two large multipurpose rooms/fitness studios, a babysitting room, and a 4,800-square-foot fitness center and locker rooms. SUNSET KNOLL RECREATION CENTER The Park District's recreation center is located at 820 S. Finley Rd. It is the site of most recreation programs and includes classrooms, preschool, a dance studio, art room, and gymnasium. PLEASANT LANE GYMNASIUM The Park District and School District 44's gymnasium is located at 401 N. Main Street in Lombard. Many of the Park District's athletic programs are held in this facility. ATHLETIC FIELDS A number of baseball and softball fields are available for rent, along with the Glenbard East Turf Football Field. Please call (630) 620-7322 to check availability. In addition to the programs listed on this page, our district provides additional services for people with disabilities through Northeast DuPage Special Recreation Association. MILITARY BENEFITS It is the Lombard Park District's mission to provide quality leisure opportunities for people to enjoy life including those people that cannot supply for themselves or are faced with hardship due to a family provider serving in the military. ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY PROGRAM All applicants must reside within the boundaries of the Lombard Park District. A copy of the set of orders stating that you or a family provider is assigned to active duty must be presented with your application. PROCEDURE Persons requesting funds from the Active Duty Military Program must complete the appropriate application form found on www.lombardparks.com, attach it to a completed program registration form and submit both to Sunset Knoll Recreation Center, 820 S. Finley Road, Lombard, IL 60148. LIMITS 1. The Program is available for recreation programs, except for contractual programs (examples: trips, Illinois Shotokan Karate Club classes). 2. Participants must follow regular Lombard Park District registration procedures. 3. The Active Duty Military Program funds are limited to a maximum of $500 per household per year. PHOTOGRAPHS The Park District may videotape or photograph people enjoying programs, special events, parks and facilities. These photographs are for District publications and promotional use. They are the sole property of the Lombard Park District and are used at its discretion. The local newspapers may take photographs of program participants for use in the newspaper and online. LOMBARD BASEBALL LEAGUE Email: secretary@lombardbaseballleague.org Web: www.lombardbaseballleague.org The Lombard Baseball League offers boys and girls from ages 5–18 the chance to develop the fundamental skills to play organized baseball. The league emphasizes good sportsmanship, competition, and an opportunity to learn and have fun. The league has many different levels geared around player age and skill. FIREBIRDS SOCCER CLUB Web: www.firebirdssc.com The Lombard Firebirds Soccer Club is a competitive soccer organization dedicated to the development of the serious player. Teams range from under 9 to under 19 years of age. This is a traveling club that will enhance an individual's skills within the framework of team concepts and will make sure players have fun as they advance! Professional trainers are provided for all teams in the U9 to U14 age levels. General club tryouts are held in May (fall for high school boys); however, interested players may check for roster openings at any time. The league emphasizes fundamentals, sportsmanship and teamwork. The league includes a 70-pound instructional program, a 130-pound tackle program, and a varsity program with no weight limit. ACCESSIBILITY FOR PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS The Lombard Park District welcomes the opportunity to assist guests with disabilities to enjoy ALL of our facilities, programs and services. Any individual with a special need should contact our staff upon registration so that we can make the necessary accommodations. In addition, the Park District provides other specialized services through NEDSRA. Any individual with a special need should contact our staff in a timely manner (at least two weeks prior), so that we can make the necessary accommodations. Call NEDSRA at (630) 620-4500 for further information. ATTENTION DOG OWNERS Dogs are required by Park District ordinance to be on a leash at all times. We also ask owners to refrain from walking their dogs on athletic fields, children's play areas and paths, and to pick up after their pets.
