24 /lombardparks DANCE MOVIN' & SHAKIN' (Age 3) Your preschooler will use imagination in this movement and dance class that also includes plenty of game-playing to keep them interested. Ballet shoes required. Children must be toilet independent. Instructor: Rebecca Robertstad Location: Sunset Knoll Recreation Center FAIRYTALE DANCE (Ages 3-4) This class introduces dance using ballet as a foundation, but also explores sound and movement. We will read a fairytale each week and through creative movement explore the story through dance. Ballet shoes are required. Children must be toilet independent. Instructor: Rebecca Robertstad Location: Sunset Knoll Recreation Center PRE-BALLET (Ages 4-5) Pre-Ballet I (Ages 4-5): Little dancers are introduced to the structure of ballet class, ballet etiquette, basic terminology, feet and arm positions and musicality. These classes will incorporate props and dance games. Pre-Ballet II (Age 5): This class is for students who have completed Pre- Ballet I, Fairy Princess Dance and for the 5 year old new to ballet. Students will build upon the basic structure of the ballet class, develop spatial awareness, work on posture, coordination, learning the foundation of barre work, continue progress with arms and feet positions as well as incorporating basic ballet technique in the center, skills and building on across the floor exercises. Instructor: Rebecca Robertstad Location: Sunset Knoll Recreation Center BALLET (Ages 5-13) These classes will progress in finesse and difficulty. These classes develop skills in the basic ballet barre exercises, along with appropriate upper body strength, ballet head positions, and port de bras (corresponding arm positions). Ballet I (Ages 5-8): This class will build upon the basic ballet technique learned in pre-ballet and or fairy princess dance. Emphasis will be placed on musicality, posture, patterns, stage directions, flexibility, terminology and linking steps together. Ballet II (Ages 8-13):This expands on the technique learned in Ballet I. Ballet II emphasizes feet, arm and body positions, correct body placement, preparation for turns, barre work, ballet stretching, musicality, memorizing ballet combinations and choreography, ballet etiquette and the advancement of classical ballet technique. Instructor: Rebecca Robertstad Location: Sunset Knoll Recreation Center PRE TAP & JAZZ (Ages 4-5) Learn the basics of both tap and jazz in this class designed especially for preschoolers! Tap and jazz shoes required. Children must be toilet independent. Instructor: Ariana Robertson Location: Sunset Knoll Recreation Center TAP & JAZZ (Ages 6-8) Learn the basics of both tap and jazz in this class designed especially for 6-8 year olds! Tap and jazz shoes required. Instructor: Ariana Robertson Location: Sunset Knoll Recreation Center JAZZ I & II (Ages 8-11) Children are introduced to jazz dance, one of the coolest and most exciting of dance styles, in this class that features a new routine each session. Jazz shoes and dance apparel are required. Instructor: Ashley Silha Location: Sunset Knoll Recreation Center DANCE DRESS CODE Appropriate dance attire is required for all dance classes. No jeans, dresses, sandals, or street shoes are allowed. All dancers must wear the following dance shoes to class: black jazz shoes for all hip hop and pom/jazz classes, black tap shoes for all tap classes, and white or pink ballet shoes for all pre-ballet, ballet, and lyrical/contemporary classes.
