SIGN LANGUAGE
(Ages 13+)
This introductory course will teach basic signs and phrases like "good job" or
"you're welcome." Join us as a certified deaf education instructor teaches how
to communicate with someone who is deaf or hard-of-hearing. Participants
should purchase The American Sign Language Phrase Book by Lou Dontana and
Barbara Bernstein Fant.

CALLIGRAPHY
(Ages 17+)
Haven't you always wanted to learn this beautiful writing? Your instructor
has experience teaching calligraphy and has designed a basic course
using dip pen and ink. Students will learn the classic 15th Century Italic
alphabet, together with design application, photocopy techniques, and
special projects like greeting cards and poems. Supplies can be purchased
from the instructor on the first night of class for $15.

DRIVER'S SAFETY PROGRAM
(Ages 55+)
The AARP Smart Driver Course teaches valuable defensive driving strategies
and provides a refresher of the rules of the road. This course has helped more
than 15 million drivers learn to adapt their driving to compensate for changes
that may occur with aging. Plus, you may qualify for a multi-year automobile
discount by completing the course. (Check with your auto insurance agent for
details.) Receive a $5 refund after you present AARP card to instructor.

CHICAGO'S POLISH CORRIDOR
(Ages 18+)
With its rich Polish history, Milwaukee Avenue is one of Chicago's most
fascinating streets. At the beginning of the 20th Century, the Polish settlement
along Milwaukee Avenue was the largest outside of Warsaw. Visit the Polish
Museum of America to learn of the immigration to Chicago. See the colorful
displays including the Pope John Paul II collection and native folk costumes.
Travel up Milwaukee Avenue to see the recently gentrified areas of Bucktown
and Wicker Park. Hear stories of Milwaukee Avenue as an Indian Trail and later a
plant "toll road." Visit one of Chicago's Polish churches. Lunch today is a buffet at
one of Chicago's well-known Polish restaurants, The Red Apple. This restaurant
serves traditional and contemporary Polish foods. There is also time to visit a
Polish bakery or deli after lunch, before finishing our tour. A minimum of 20
participants is needed by 06/06 for this trip to take place. There will be no

TRIBUTE TO THE STARS TOUR
AT STARVED ROCK LODGE
(Ages 18+)
Travel to Starved Rock State Park Lodge for a delicious luncheon buffet and
an entertaining musical as part of the "Tribute to the Stars" series. The historic
Lodge, built in the 1930s, is a perfect place to get away for the day. The Best
of Broadway & Memory Lane show features Phil & Amy. Husband and wife
accomplished vocalists, musicians, recording artists and Chicagoland favorites
return to Starved Rock singing Broadway Hit Greats including music from the
"Music Man", "Showboat", My Fair Lady and Phantom of the Opera and many
more favorites of Broadway and Memory Lane. The duet team is joined again by
their daughter Lucie, bringing their charm to enhance a delightful afternoon. A
minimum of 20 participants is needed by 07/22 for this trip to take place.
