Chapter Two: Inventory and Analysis Purpose This chapter includes detailed mapping of parks, natural systems and other existing conditions; identifi es all park land, open space, schools, trails, relevant adjacent land uses, and amenities; and classifi es all park land based on standards, size, locations, and amenities. This chapter also documents the Level of Service analysis which evaluates the distribution and capacity of all parks, and inventories all facilities. Finally, the program inventory and analysis documents the core programs, program mix and inventory, life cycle analysis, age segmentation analysis, enrollment totals, and marketing approaches. Existing Conditions The Lombard Park District encompasses approximately 5,826 acres (9.1 square miles), much of which is occupied by residential land uses. The Park District includes sixteen parks, two natural areas, and Western Acres Golf Course. The western portion of York High Ridge Forest Preserve is located within the Park District boundary on the southeast side of the district. Large private land-holdings within the Park District, including the Ken Loch Golf Course and public school properties off er additional recreational opportunities. The Union Pacifi c West (UP-W) Railroad bisects a portion of the Park District. The Lombard Park District is located just north of Interstate 88 and west of Interstate 355. The majority of business land-use development has been concentrated along the Main Street, St. Charles Road, North Avenue and Roosevelt Road corridors. North Avenue also has a concentration of light industrial development. The Village of Lombard is served by: Elementary School District 44 - Butterfield Elementary, Hammerschmidt Elementary, Madison Elementary, Manor Hill Elementary, Park View Elementary, Pleasant Lane Elementary (kindergarten through 5th grade), and Glenn Westlake Middle School (6th through 8th grade) Elementary School District 45 - Westmore Elementary, Schafer Elementary, York Center/Stevenson Elementary High School District 87 - Glenbard East High School High School District 88 - Willowbrook High School Private Elementary and High Schools- College Preparatory School of America, Delphi Academy of Chicago, Sacred Heart School, St. John's Lutheran School, St. Pius X School, Trinity Lutheran School, College Preparatory School of America, Montini Catholic High School, and Saint Patrick's School - Catholic School (kindergarten through 8th grade) Regional Trail Systems serving the Park District include the: Grand Illinois Trail/Great Western Trail Illinois Prairie Path Eastern Branch of the DuPage River Trail Madison Meadow Western Acres Golf Course Lilacia Park
