Participants will learn and improve their soccer skills and share in the fun and camaraderie at the heart of youth sports in this program. Teams practice weather permitting once per week on a day, time and location determined by coaches. Teams will hold at least one practice before their first game of the season. Games are approximately one hour on Saturdays. If rainouts occur, games will be rescheduled for an additional Saturday at the end of the season or on weekday evenings. Grades 5+ girls and boys leagues could be combined into a co-rec league if participation is low. Please consult the Team Formation Guidelines. Games will start 8/27/22. Partcipants must also purchase a game jersey for $20 at Sunset Knoll Recreation Center. Please note: Pre-K league participants do NOT need to purchase a jersey. League shirts will be provided prior to the first game for the Pre-K league. Participants registering after the 07/11 deadline will be placed on a waitlist and will not be guaranteed a spot. Withdrawals after 08/27 are subject to a $10 processing fee. Requests for teams, players or coaches will not be guaranteed. Teams will be formed using Lombard Park District's Team Formation Guidelines. Grades 5 and up will combine with Glen Ellyn Park District and play some games at Ackerman Park in Glen Ellyn. AGE REQUIREMENTS Children must turn 4 by the first week of practice to play in the Pre-K league. FALL GIRLS SOFTBALL (Grades 3-8) The Lombard Park District offers an extensive youth softball program including instruction for all ages and skill levels. The primary goal is to create an opportunity for fundamental skills development in a positive, supportive, friendly, safe and most importantly, fun environment for every player. Coaches will determine all practice times. The Park District reserves the right to combine age levels if necessary. The program begins with three weeks of instruction in a practice setting followed by three weeks of games (July 11 - 28). Games are 50 minutes and can be played at 5:30 or 6:30 pm regardless of which time slot participants registered. All participants will receive a t-shirt and hat prior to the start of games. Practices will begin 6/13 and games will begin 7/11, or 7/12. Fridays will be used for rainouts. The program is taught by Park District Staff, but parents are invited to help with instruction. Baseball glove and water bottle will be required. Please note: you will not recieve a call from a coach. This is a very beginner level program, where basic fundamentals are taught.
