page 43 youth athletics YOUTH BASKETBALL (Grades 1-8) Participants will learn basic skills and enjoy the fun and competition of weekly games. Games will be approximately one-hour. Grades 1-2 will have both practices and games on Saturdays (8 games total). Teams grades 3 and higher will play a 9 game season on weekends and will have a one hour practice one evening per week at a local school gym, day and time chosen by their coach. Please see the Team Formation Guidelines online. Volunteer Coaches are encouraged to apply ASAP to secure a team for the season. The first three weeks will consist of 45 minutes of practices and skill building, and the last five weeks will be 30 minutes of practice and 30 minute games in which the coaches continue to teach the game of basketball. All practices and games take place on Saturday mornings. Volunteer Coaches are encouraged to apply ASAP to secure a team for the season. Fee: $45/$55 Regular Deadline: 12/1; R/NR Fee: $70/$80 All participants need to fill out a Youth Sport Information Form on pg. 44. Each participant must purchase a game jersey for $16 at SKRC. Anyone who registers after the 12/1 deadline will be placed on a waitlist, and are not guaranteed a spot on a team. Any withdrawals after 1/4 are subject to a $10 processing fee. A pro-rated refund may be granted within the first two scheduled weeks, after this there will be no refunds. Requests for teams, players or coaches will not be guaranteed. Teams will be formed using the Team Formation Guidelines. CodeDay Date (Grades 1-5) Come out and play as we have fun learning the fundamentals of the game with unique drills, games and contests that will keep you active and sharpen your basketball skills. This program will blend the perfect amount of organized games and fun activities that are productive, positive and fun! Boys and girls will learn the latest techniques in ball handling, passing, shooting, rebounding, footwork, and offensive and defensive team play. All campers receive a T-shirt and replica player photo.
