VISION Strive to provide exceptional parks and quality recreation opportunities for our community to learn, play and grow. Please note: Lombard Park District reserves the right to modify the contents of this publication. DEAR RESIDENTS, Winter is the season to spend time together with family, friends and neighbors and to enjoy all the holiday festivities while looking back on an amazing year. In 2023, the Lombard Park District completed Phase 2 of the Four Seasons OSLAD project. Amenities include volleyball court renovation, additional walking paths around the pond, playground replacements and more. Lombard Park District was awarded an OSLAD grant to renovate Southland in 2024. The Park District also received the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Presentation Award and Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. I am honored to announce these achievements heading into 2024. The Lombard Park District is getting ready for another busy winter season, as staff have already been working hard preparing for Jingle Bell Jubilee and Holiday Lights in Lilacia Park. Don't miss the annual tree lighting ceremony and Santa's arrival on December 2 at 5:30 pm. There will be singing, roaming characters, hot cocoa and cookies for all! Holiday Lights is a FREE event, so bundle up the family and come out for an evening of holiday fun! A full list of upcoming special events can be found in this guide, starting on page 6. In March, I announced I will be retiring at the end of this year. I have been grateful to have had the privilege of being the District's Executive Director for the past 16 years and with the District overall for 25 years. My career here has been very rewarding, having an amazing team behind me with an active and engaged community. I have always appreciated the Board of Park Commissioners, staff, partners, volunteers and residents for being great supporters of Parks and Recreation in Lombard. Thank you all. The Board of Park Commissioners thanks you for your ongoing support. We value any feedback or suggestions from you by joining our board meetings that are held on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 6:00 pm at Sunset Knoll Recreation Center, 820 S. Finley Rd. All are invited to attend. We hope you and your family have a safe and healthy holiday season. Lombard Park District staff and Board of Park Commissioners are grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve you each season. Sincerely, Paul Friedrichs Executive Director Lombard Park District WELCOME!
