(Ages 9-16: 8 years old if previously registered for an LPD theatre production) Actors will work together to create quality, age appropriate productions suitable for family viewing. Auditions are required in order to be a part of the cast. This will allow us to assess the comfort level of children as performers, evaluate their skills and find the role that will best suit their personality and talent. There is no cost to audition. Children will be seen in small groups during their audition time slot. They will be asked to sing 16 bars (measures of music) of a musical theatre song, to learn a short dance with their group and perform it, and possibly to read short scenes from the script (called sides). They will fill out a short audition form listing their possible conflicts and any previous experience, and will have a digital photograph taken for the artistic staff's reference during casting. Casting will be based on availability, ability, and attitude. Cast members will be enrolled in the program as a class and must pay a participation fee. This fee covers professional instruction throughout the process, a copy of the script which performers may keep, a cast t-shirt, and all production costs. Be careful what you wish for, as Stephen Sondheim's and James Lapine's cockeyed fairytale comes to life in this adaptation of their groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning musical. Into the Woods Jr. features all of your favorite characters — Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk) and the Witch — in this lyrically rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables. The musical centers on a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse, and wind up changed forever. THEATRE THEATRE SPONSOR:
