WINTER THEATRE PRODUCTION (Ages 9-16) Actors will work together to create quality, age appropriate productions suitable for family viewing. Auditions are required in order to be a part of the cast. This will allow us to assess the comfort level of children as performers, evaluate their skills and find the role that will best suit their personality and talent. There is no cost to audition. Children will be seen in small groups during their audition time slot. They will be asked to read short scenes from the script (called sides). They will fill out a short audition form listing their possible conflicts and any previous experience, and will have a digital photograph taken for the artistic staff's reference during casting. Casting will be based on availability, ability, and attitude. Cast members will be enrolled in the program as a class and must pay a participation fee. This fee covers professional instruction throughout the process, a copy of the script which performers may keep, a cast t-shirt, and all production costs. Based on Roald Dahl's classic children's book, this show tells the story of Matilda, a bright young girl who loves to read and who faces neglect and cruelty from the adult figures in her life. A witty ode to the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination. Matilda's bravery inspires her classmates (and the audience) to be "revolting children" who stand up for themselves and each other. ABOUT THE PLAY!
