INTRO TO BIRDING
(Ages 10+)
Birding has been the fastest growing outdoor recreational activity in recent years.
Learn the basics of this relaxing and exciting hobby as participants are led through
Westmore Woods during fall migration. Staff will have limited supplies available, so
if you have a pair of binoculars, please bring them. Participants will receive a species
checklist and will learn about both resident and migratory species.

WINTER NATURE EXPLORERS
(Ages 6-11)
Get bundled up and head out on a winter scavenger hunt and hike! We will use the
Lombard Park District van to travel to local forest preserves and explore our natural
surroundings in the winter season. This mini class will also include a winter nature
craft and a nature explorer's kit.

TAKE A HIKE! CHALLENGE
(All Ages)
The Lombard Park District is partnering with the Conservation
Foundation and Endeavor Health to participate in the Take a Hike!
Challenge. For eight weeks, from September 2 to October 28, people of all ages
are encouraged to rediscover the health benefits of being active and spending time
outdoors. The Lombard Community Building will serve as a pickup location for prizes
this year.
Those interested in participating in this free challenge can follow the directions below:
1) Sign up at theconservationfoundation.org/take-a-hike/
2) Get out and hike from September 2 to October 28!
3) Turn in the Take a Hike! Tracker with six completed hikes to earn the Take a Hike!
Trail Blaze Award* (commemorative pin or medallion. First time participants can
earn a hiking stick and medallion).
