CHRISTMAS IN CHICAGO
(Ages 50+)
Back by popular demand! There's no time like Christmas in Chicago! Join us as
we celebrate the season. After a late morning departure, we start with a tradition
going back more than 75 years as we visit the Museum of Science & Industry's
"Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Light." See the museum's grand
45-foot tree which graces the Museum rotunda covered with more than 30,000
twinkling lights and surrounded by more than 50 smaller Christmas trees carefully
decorated to represent countries and cultures from around the world. This
sparkling display and festival of trees is a true immersion into Christmas, with
multiple varieties of ornaments, lights, garlands, dolls and ribbons. Each tree
has a description about the decorations and the customs of that country. After
a wonderful late lunch at Weber Grill in Chicago's River North visit the colorful
Christkindlmarket, the enchanting holiday village at Daley Plaza. Shop for holiday
crafts at the most authentic traditional holiday market of its kind outside of Europe.
You can also visit Macy's State Street store, the former historic Marshall Field's
store to see the traditional holiday windows, the famous Christmas tree or shop for
Frango Mints! Later enjoy a narrated, guided tour of the breathtaking Christmas
lights including the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival along Michigan Avenue and
the Chicago Christmas tree and skating rink at Millennium Park. Registration and
