Spring 2014 follow SPRING SOCCER AT A GLANCE Upon registering you will need to: Fill out Youth Sports Information Form. Purchase a game jersey for $18 at SKRC. Please note: Pre-K league participants do NOT need to purchase a jersey. League Shirts will be provided prior to the first game for the Pre-K league. Please consult the Team Formation Guidelines. Requests for teams, players, or coaches will not be guaranteed. Important dates to remember: 03/01: Final registration deadline. All registrants after this date are waitlisted and not guaranteed a spot in the program. 03/31: Coaches will contact players by this date. Please call 630-620-7322 if you haven't been contacted by your coach. 04/12: Games start 04/21: Final date to withdraw and receive a pro-rated refund. No refunds after this date. SPRING SOCCER LEAGUE (Ages 4 - Grade 9) Give your child the opportunity to experience the world's most popular sport! Participants will learn and improve their soccer skills and share in the fun and camaraderie at the heart of youth sports in this program. Teams practice once per week (weather permitting) on a day, time, and location determined by your coach. Teams will hold at least one practice before their first game of the season. Games are approximately one hour on Saturdays. If rainouts occur, games will be rescheduled for an additional Saturday at the end of the season or on weekday evenings. Lombard Park District staff selects the teams and coaches using the Team Formation Guidelines (available at www.lombardparks.com). For more information, please consult the Parents Manual available online. Volunteer coaches are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to secure a team for the season. Required items: LPD Jersey/shirt (games only); shin guards, water bottle. Season may be extended 1-2 weeks based on rainouts and number of teams. LITTLE KICKERS SOCCER (Ages 3 + parent) Is your little soccer enthusiast not quite old enough for the Spring Youth Soccer League? Well, Little Kickers will allow them to experience the thrill of soccer! This class will focus primarily on age-appropriate games to help acclimate your young one to soccer and teach them the basics. Many of the activities will involve both the child and parent. All participants will receive a T-shirt. Class will be taught by experienced instructors. A parent must be present for this activity. Required items: Comfortable clothes; water bottle; parent; soccer ball (optional). The emphasis is on individual ball skills. Professional trainers and coaches from the Firebirds Soccer Club will lead instruction. Players must wear shin guards and bring a water bottle and ball to each session. Children will learn basic ball handling, passing, shooting, and defense skills necessary for success in these two popular sports. Teamwork and sportsmanship will be emphasized through drills and games in a supervised and safe environment. Our fun approach is a great way to expose boys and girls to basketball and soccer.
