33 ADULT ATHLETICS ADULT TENNIS LESSONS (Ages 18 +) Improve your tennis skills with Lombard Park District tennis instruction. Beginner/Intermediate Lessons will cater to beginning players who have never played before or intermediate players who have limited experience and limited formal instruction. Players will brush up on basics with a focus on strokes, overhead serve, and progressing to volley placement and consistency. Advanced Lessons will cater to players who have received some formal instruction and have solid tennis fundamentals. Instruction will still be the primary aspect of this class, and basics will be reviewed, but instruction will be more nuanced and will include more challenging shots, as well as working on consistency, footwork, and strategies for match play. Drills cater to individuals who know the basics of tennis, and intermediate to advanced players who want to improve. This program is more rigorous than the Advanced Lessons, and will feature less formal step-by-step instruction and more match-play and volleying, where instructors will pinpoint specific areas for improvement for the individual player while they volley and play matches. Get ready for a lively tennis workout! Players must supply own racquets. Instructors may recommend switching class levels based on their assessment of your skill level. Classes may be combined based on enrollment. Up to 3 classes will be made up on Mondays or Fridays if any of the regularly scheduled classes are cancelled due to weather. Men and women welcome! Teams will play 11 on 11 officiated games with a 10-game regular season and a tournament to end the season. Games will be played on the turf field at Glenbard East High School. Tots: Progressive levels 1-4 providing ages 3 and 4 with ice orientation, balance, agility, and fun. Pre-Alpha: This class is intended for ages 5-13 with no previous formal instruction. Participants will learn 1 & 2 foot glides, forward & backward Swizzles and the backward wiggle. Teen / Adult Basics: This class is for participants ages 14 & up and will be tailored to individual needs. Hockey Tot 1: Participants ages 3-4 will learn ice coordination, balance, and agility in a fun atmosphere while wearing hockey equipment. Hockey skates and hockey helmet required. Hockey Alpha 1: Participants ages 5-13 with no previous formal instruction will learn basic forward and backward skating while wearing hockey equipment. Hockey skates and hockey helmet are required.
