35 Summer 2014 follow YOUTH ATHLETICS WHITE SOX TRAINING CAMP White Sox Training Centers take a grass roots approach to nurturing a lifelong love for baseball. These are not day care camps nor autograph sessions. Young players who are interested in improving their skills will be given a chance to learn basic and advanced baseball skills from some of the most gifted teachers in the game. White Sox Training Centers are taught by the best in the business; primarily collegiate coaches, ex-professional players, high school coaches and full time private instructors. LITTLE SLUGGERS CAMP (Ages 5-6) This beginner program is open to boys and girls ages 5 & 6. The purpose of the Little Sluggers program is to introduce this age group to the game of baseball. In addition to focusing on the basics of the game, players will also learn practice leads to improvement and the best way to have more fun playing baseball. Our student-to-instructor ratio of 10:1 or less assures every player of getting the attention they deserve. Throughout the week, teachings will be reinforced by using fun skill games. On the final day all players will get the opportunity to judge their improvement by playing a game. Student to instructor ratio will be 10:1 or less. This Advanced Camp from the White Sox is just for you. You have special, more advanced needs, and the Advanced Camp is just the ticket to prepare you for trying out for a travel team someday. This camp will build on the basics taught in our STC 1 camps. Depending on the skill level of the players, this camp will touch on advanced hitting and throwing techniques, as well as team play, advanced base running and other techniques that could be used on the field this season. Just because you are in-season doesn't mean that you can stop learning the game. Instructor: Chicago White Sox Location: Lombard Common Code Day Date Time R/NR Fee 201133-01 M-F 07/14 - 07/18 1:30 - 3:30 pm $199 GIRLS LACROSSE CAMP (Grades 3-8) We are teaming up with the Illinois Girls Lacrosse Association (IGLA) and Glen Ellyn Park District to offer girls the opportunity to play the fastest growing sport in the US! Camps are run by an experienced and skilled coaching staff including women who played or currently play competitively. Goggles, sticks and mouth guards are required for play. Players will learn the fundamentals of lacrosse; catching, throwing and ground balls. There will also be an opportunity for more advanced skill development such as offensive and defensive positioning and simulated game play. Girls will learn the skills of the game in a fun, fast-paced, and dynamic environment with drills and games. EXPERIENCED CAMP: For participants with more than one year of playing experience. Coaches will work with the experienced player to fine tune skills, correct positioning, and teach advanced techniques for improving her game. With small group instruction, there will be many opportunities for one on one instruction. Experienced players will engage in game play with instruction-all in a fast paced and dynamic environment. Learn lacrosse, the fastest growing sport in the country, from the Glenbard High School Lacrosse Club. In conjunction with the Lombard Park District, Glenbard Lacrosse will offer a Summer Lacrosse Program. This program is perfect for the new players, as well as the experienced ones. Young players are introduced to lacrosse through fun drills, scrimmages, and contests that encourage player development, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Players will be grouped by age and ability level. Coaches will be assisted by high school and college lacrosse players. A reversible lacrosse jersey is included in the fee. It is strongly reccommended that all participants bring their own stick. Full equipment is required for this camp. Rentals will be available for $25 (Helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, elbow pads.) Stick rental will be an additional charge.
