LEVEL 3 (Ages 5-6)
Children will learn the beginning of stroke development and
complete independence from the instructor's assistance. Skills
learned include further development of Level 2 skills, rhythmic
breathing, turning over, retrieval of underwater objects, front and
back glides, and open airway for rescue breathing.
LEVEL 4
(Ages 7-8)
Combine all aspects of stroke development with arm and leg
movements. Children will also learn to be more comfortable in
deeper water. Skills learned include treading water, front & back
crawl, elementary back stroke, diving, changing directions, and
review of previous level skills.
LEVEL 5 (Ages 7-8)
Students will work on their strength and endurance of stroke
development in this level. Skills learned include competitive
turns, long shallow dive, breaststroke, and sidestroke, alternative
breathing, and diving board safety.
LEVEL 6 (Ages 9-12)
Focus on the overall improvement of all stroke development.
Students are encouraged to swim laps while instructors refine their
skills. Skills learned include approach & hurdle on diving board,
breaststroke, butterfly, speed turn, & pull out for breaststroke, pike
surface dive, throwing rescue, and review of previous level skills.
LEVEL 7 (Ages 9-12)
Designed for the swimmer who is interested in competitive
swimming. Endurance is emphasized, as well as quick turns. Skills
learned include tread water for 5 minutes, front crawl/200 yards,
backstroke flip turn, front dive from the board in turn or pike
position, and assist with backboard rescue.
ADULT SWIM PROGRAM
(Ages 15 & up)
You're never too old to learn to swim. The Lombard Park District
offers classes for both beginners and those with some swimming
experience who want to improve their skills.
BEGINNING ADULT LESSONS
Designed for the non-swimmer, you will be introduced to the water
basics, necessary skills and water safety.
INTERMEDIATE ADULT LESSONS
For adults who float unassisted on their fronts and backs. The
basics of front crawl, elementary backstroke, and breaststroke will
be taught. Other strokes may be taught if time allows.
