During this season, the District reflects on the past year and prepares for the upcoming year. Many large projects have been completed in 2014, such as the replacement of two playgrounds; one at Madison Meadow and the other at Lombard Common. The website has a new look and added components, such as a park map with amenities and an event calendar. A 15-passenger bus was purchased to offer small group trips and for use during camps. With the holidays right around the corner, staff is preparing for the annual Holiday Lights in Lilacia Park event held throughout the month of December. Join the Lombard Park District and Village of Lombard for the lighting event at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6 in Lilacia Park. Visit page 10 for more information. Dads and daughters are encouraged to register for the annual Daddy Daughter Dance on Friday, December 5 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Additional information is available on page 8. Winter Carnival is a favorite winter event held after the holiday season. It's a great opportunity for families to enjoy quality time together without being stuck inside all day. This indoor/outdoor event is free for the community and held on February 7 from 1:30-4:00 pm. Visit page 8 for details. The District continues to remove trees that have been affected by the emerald ash borer. The District's goal is to plant two trees for every tree that has been taken down. In order to diversify our urban forest, a variety of trees are planted to lessen the future impact of insect or disease. To learn more, visit www.lombardparks.com/emerald-ash-borer/. The Board of Park Commissioners thanks you for your continued support and encourages your input and participation by attending the regular board meetings, which are held the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Sunset Knoll Recreation Center.
