17 activity guide winter 2015 LITTLE KICKERS SOCCER (Ages 3) Is your little soccer enthusiast not quite old enough for the Spring Youth Soccer League? Well, Little Kickers will allow them to experience the thrill of soccer! This class will focus primarily on age-appropriate games to help acclimate your young one to soccer and teach them the basics. Many of the activities will involve both the child and parent. All participants will receive a t-shirt. Class will be taught by experienced instructors. A parent must be present for this activity. Required items: Comfortable clothes; water bottle; parent; soccer ball (optional). Participants will learn and improve their soccer skills and share in the fun and camaraderie at the heart of youth sports in this program. Teams practice once per week (weather permitting) on a day, time, and location determined by your coach. Teams will hold at least one practice before their first game of the season. Games are approximately one hour on Saturdays. If rainouts occur, games will be rescheduled for an additional Saturday at the end of the season or on weekday evenings. Boys and girls grades 5/6 may be combined and formed into co-rec teams if not enough players are registered. Volunteer coaches are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to secure a team for the season. **Grades 5+ will combine with Glen Ellyn Park District and play some games at Ackerman Park in Glen Ellyn. No refunds after this date. YOUTH LACROSSE (Ages 6-9) Join us in playing the oldest and fastest growing team sport in North America. Lacrosse is sweeping the nation and the northern suburbs. Get in on this game that will continue to grow in schools. The class will cover various lacrosse techniques, including cradling, scooping, passing, catching, shooting, and goalie skills. Each child should bring a mouth guard to class. Lacrosse sticks will be provided. Instructor: SportsKids Inc.
