We will talk about its color, where it is, how it feels, and what it does for us. We will take a large paper with a yellow blob on it and participants will make a picture out of it. We will also play Sunshine BINGO with objects mentioned in this poem. At the end of class we will have a sun parade featuring yellow balloons. Participants will take home their balloons and picture. Children must be toilet independent or wear pull-ups. (Ages 3-5) Based on Kathleen Grippo's poem, participants will listen to the poem and talk about their grandma, grandpa, care taker, adult, etc. Each participant will use a microphone to interview their adult and ask questions such as: What is your favorite color? What is your favorite food? Do you like to bake? Adults will answer the questions using a scrapbook and then the participants will decorate their scrapbook. Adult participation required. Children must be toilet independent or wear pull-ups. We will then have a scavenger hunt to find the objects in the poem: Stars, galaxies, spaceships, and our planets. Finally we will fill in the pieces for a large universe puzzle. Participants will take home their spaceship drawings. Children must be toilet independent or wear pull-ups. Participants will make hats out of newspaper and invent a toy or game using objects that will be provided. Each participant will demonstrate their invention and play games! Participants will be able to take home their hat and inventions! Children must be toilet independent or wear pull-ups.
