Summer 2016 Activity Guide | 51 GLITZY GIRLS: SUMMER SPA NIGHT (Ages 5-11) Come join Glitzy Girlz with friends or make new girlfriends at this great class! Wear your favorite PJ's and feel free to bring a sleeping bag for snack time. Our staff will teach pedicures, manicures, and a take home polish. Each girl will decorate an overnight bag with name stamps, paints, and embellishments. At the end of class we will have snacks and refreshments, play music, freeze dance, and girl talk! Training will be provided in safety, safe play, basic care, first aid, leadership, and professionalism. A safety and first aid kit is available from the instructor for $14. Amaze family and friends with tricks that involve cards, ropes, coins, mindreading, and more. While the tricks may appear difficult, you'll discover that they are quick to learn and easy to perform. All materials are provided; each child receives a magic kit to take home. Children are grouped by age and always learn tricks that are age appropriate. New tricks are taught each session. Every class, each child will learn two or three new skill-based games (no luck or chance involved). Both team and individual games will be played. There will also be a tournament with prizes! All participants will learn cool new strategies at the appropriate level from a renowned Chess Scholars coach. Each class will consist of a fun interactive teaching period and guided practice time. Children will have the opportunity to test for a Chess Belt under a unique Chess Scholars system patterned after martial arts belts. There will also be a chess competition with prizes! Each camper will take home a chess set and an award. Please bring your own snacks. In Stage Stars children will learn theater terms, play games, and act in short skits. During theater games, students will use their creativity to communicate and improvise. The carefully selected skits are based on folk tales that teach cooperation and positive moral values. Every student will have the opportunity to play at least one lead role per session. Also, Stage Stars participants can earn prizes for identifying and explaining parts of a skit and goals of the characters. Each child will receive a participation award. Parents are invited to attend the final performance on the last day of class! Refund requests must be received three days prior to activity. This American Red Cross course teaches skills children should know if they find themselves alone (i.e.: answering phones, doors, etc.) Register early; space is limited.
