Summer 2016 Activity Guide | 57 Adult & Senior TRIPS IT'S GREEK TO ME (Ages 55 +) An enjoyable day is in store as we visit Chicago's Greektown! A professional guide joins us downtown to take us through this colorful neighborhood. See this finished product of former Mayor Daley's Greektown re-development program. Hear the stories of the neighborhood's rich history from Greek ship captains arriving in Chicago in the 1800's, to the introduction of gyros and saganaki to the U.S. Tour the beautiful new National Hellenic Museum. This museum is the first in the country dedicated to the Greek journey, from ancient times to the modern Greek-American experience. Branded as "the newest thing in ancient history," explore the museum's Calamos Great Hall with its arts and artifact exhibitions, the Grand Lobby and the Haikiss Family Exhibition Hall with the museum's permanent exhibits. Capture the Greek immigrant experience through film and audio at the Homer project. In the summer, visit the rooftop terrace with its gardens and dramatic Chicago skyline backdrop. A family-style Greek lunch is scheduled today at the popular Greek Island's Restaurant where you sample mouthwatering Greek delicacies. Today, you don't have to travel to South Dakota to see this fascinating creature! At the Broken Wagon Bison Ranch, near Hobart, Indiana you'll board a "Bison Tour Wagon" to tour this beautiful 35 acre buffalo farm. While enjoying expert narration from your guide, you will travel up closely and safely to the herd of about 70 buffalo to enjoy your own personal encounter with North America's largest native land mammal.
