Autumn 2016 Activity Guide | 43 Youth & Teen LET'S BUILD IT (Ages 6-11) This class takes a hands-on approach to engineering, allowing students to directly engage with basic engineering concepts through a variety of fun and educational activities. Students will improve their problem solving, math, and physics skills-all while engaging in exciting building projects. Each trimester-long unit will focus on a specific area of engineering such as flight, bridge building, and transportation. The unit will culminate in a testing of students' final projects and each student will recieve an award for their progress during the unit. Teens will have the chance to walk through the "World's Largest Corn Maze", go ziplining (with waiver signed by Parent/Guardian), enjoy wagon rides, watch pig races and much more! Lunch will be provided at the site. Teens will meet at the Lombard Community Building at 9:00 am and will travel to the Richardson Farm by van or bus. Teens may bring extra money for snacks and souvenirs. You'll learn the answer to this question and much more in this very colorful class. You'll study the weather phenomena that form rainbows and try to make your own rainbows with prisms, mirrors, water, and projectors. You'll also conduct some color experiments and make a cool rainbow craft that you can take home with you. Refund requests must be received three days prior to activity. Instructor: Cool Science Location: Iowa Community Center Code Day Date Time R/NR Fee 307158-01 W 09/14 6:00 - 8:00 pm $29/$31 HALLOWEEN POTIONS (Ages 6-10) In this fun, interactive class, you as a student of "wizardry" and "witchery" will learn about basic principles of chemistry as you follow ancient recipes and use various "magical" ingredients to create your own potions, elixirs and other mixtures. You will start with simple ones first then move on to more advanced concoctions as you progress in knowledge. At the end of the class, you will receive a certificate of Advanced Potion Making!
