Lombard Park District

GIRLS LACROSSE LEAGUE (Ages 5-14) Be part of a youth lacrosse league exclusively for girls. The goals of the program are to understand the rules of lacrosse, active teamwork, and sportsmanship. IGLA offers two levels of league play: Pink and Purple. Both are recreational, community lacrosse. Pink teams practice once a week. Purple teams practice twice a week and may travel more for games. If considering Purple, players must first attend an assessment on stick skills and game play (visit iglax.org for dates and locations). Current Purple players do not need to attend an assessment. Registration for all programs is a two-step process: Pay the Lombard Park District and register at www.iglax.org. (Fall 2017 Pink League or 6U FUNdamentals Clinic; Purple players will register and pay the league fee at the Lombard Park District, but will receive their IGLA registration link directly through IGLA.) All registrations at www.iglax.org are due by 09/01; a late fee will be assessed on any registrations received at www.iglax.org after 09/01. Stick, goggles, and mouth guard required for Pink and Purples Leagues. Practices take place at Hadley Junior High School in Glen Ellyn on Tuesdays. Games are on Sundays between the hours of 12:00 pm and 5:00 pm. The program includes an evaluation of each student, as well as a youth volleyball rating. Organized games will be held at the end of each class. Grade levels may be combined based on enrollment numbers. Players must supply their own rackets. Tennis balls are supplied. Classes may be adjusted, cancelled, or combined. Instructors will evaluate players' skills every session and may move participants to a different level if necessary. Make-ups for rain-outs will occur based on instructor availability Pee Wee (Ages 4-5): Children will be introduced to tennis with suitable equipment. Beginner (Ages 6-8): This class emphasizes ball control and basic strokes, regardless of previous experience. Beginner Tennis & Games (Ages 6-8): A more advanced class emphasizing gameplay and minigames. Must be able to play half court matches independently. Advanced Beginner (Ages 9-12): Children review basic skills and focus on footwork and the overhead serve. Junior Achiever Tennis Team (Ages 9-14): Focus on gameplay, must be able to serve over-head and serve in-bounds.
