page 23 youth athletics BASKETBALL - SHOOTING CLINIC (Ages 7-9) Boys and girls learn jump shots, shots off the glass, lay-ups, shooting from a pass, and shooting off the dribble. Shooting games will be a part of class. Class takes place outdoors. Instructor: SportsKids Inc. The emphasis is on the development of teamwork, sportsmanship and movement. Our goal is to teach boys and girls the enjoyment of playing for the sake of the sport itself. Participants will learn the parts of an arrow and recurve bow, the basics of using a recurve bow, and fundamental shooting skills. They also will learn an excellent, nationally recognized beginner's 9-step to the 10 ring progression which was created by the Coaches Development Committee of the National Archery Association. Blunt tipped arrows, bows, and targets are provided. A mix of technique and games will be a part of this class. The later session will be a Parent/Child session. Instructor: SportsKids Inc. Site: Sunset Knoll Code Day DateTimeR/NR Fee YOUTH (AGES 8-13) 101115-06 Tu 4/16-5/21 4:45-5:30 pm $65/$75 101115-07 Tu 4/16-5/21 5:30-6:15 pm $98/$108 PARENT & CHILD (AGES 6-13 AND A PARENT) SPRING LACROSSE LEAGUE (Grades 2-8) New Wave Lacrosse is offering their popular youth Lacrosse League for the first time in Lombard! Athletes of all levels are invited to participate. Players will practice twice during the week (Monday and Wednesday) and participate in local games on Saturdays. Official teams will be formed for the 8-week session as well as designated coaches for each team. Teams will compete in "in-house" competitions and also against other local Park District teams. This is an "in-house" structure but will include minimal travel (approx. 15 miles for some games). Players will start with the basics and will quickly develop an in-depth knowledge of the game and skills needed to excel. Game jersey will be included. Full equipment is required for this program. Rental equipment is available through New Wave and needs to be reserved by contacting Director Kyle Sullivan (Kyle@newwavelax. com) $65 fee. Volunteer coaches are needed to assist with this program.
