36 /LOMBARDPARKS M A R T I A L A R T S YOUTH TAEKWONDO (Ages 8-13) This program includes a balanced cardiovascular workout, including punching, kicking, and blocking skills, using the Taekwondo tradition and self control. Participants will improve coordination, power of concentration, balance and both physical and mental discipline. Instructor: Chris Clemente Location: Sunset Knoll Recreation Center Code Day Date Time R/NR Fee 310101-07 Tu 09/08 - 12/22 6:10 - 7:00 pm $160/$170 FAMILY TAEKWONDO (Ages 7+) This class provides families with a fun opportunity to spend time together while improving physical and mental conditioning through cardiovascular drills, calisthenics, and traditional Taekwondo techniques including punching, kicking and blocking. Fee is per participant (all belts). Instructor: Chris Clemente Location: Sunset Knoll Recreation Center Code Day Date Time R/NR Fee 310101-06 Tu 09/08 - 12/22 6:10 - 7:00 pm $160/$170 TAEKWONDO Taekwondo is a martial art dating back 2,000 years offering a variety of benefits for people of all ages and physical abilities. Students have the opportunity to improve concentration and self-esteem, achieve lifelong physical fitness and learn self-defense skills. Classes are taught under the direction of Grand Master Ki Hong Kim (9th Dan Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Headquarters) from Oriental Arts Training Center (OATC). A $45 uniform fee is required at the first class. Belt testing is offered through KH Kim Taekwondo at an additional fee twice a year. All colored belt students are required to have complete sparing gear. LITTLE DRAGONS (Ages 4-5) This introductory class is designed to captivate the interest of the youngest students. Skills are developed through gentle instruction and appropriate games for their ability. This class focuses on developing balance, coordination and respect for the discipline of martial arts training. It is a blend of tumbling, martial arts and a new form of child self-defense that we call playground defense. We will address real-life scenarios as children dress as their favorite superhero. While having fun, we learn that being a hero means that you do not need super powers to be super. There will be a $5 armband fee for all first time participants. Integrating your body, mind and spirit will help you to achieve inner peace. This class will help develop a harmony with the world on a physical, mental, emotional and ultimately spiritual level. This calmness pervades the whole body, leaving participants less stressed and more refreshed at the end of the day. Practice strengthens the immune system, improves posture, balance, coordination, flexibility and strength. Tai Chi Chuan reduces blood pressure, stress and releases muscle tension allowing a feeling of positive energy to flow through your body.
