page 44 youth & teen Follow us! @lombard_parks MARVELOUS MAGIC (Ages 5-12) Children are guaranteed to have a great time as they learn a collection of fascinating and mesmerizing tricks. Amaze family and friends with tricks that involve cards, ropes, coins, mind-reading and more. While the tricks may appear difficult, you'll discover that they are quick to learn and easy to perform. All materials are provided; each child receives a magic kit to take home. Children are grouped by age and always learn tricks that are age appropriate. New tricks are taught each session. Well, now you can. With just a little practice, children will learn the techniques needed to take a plain balloon and transform it into a fascinating balloon animal creation (like dogs, butterflies, swords, etc.). And at the end of the class children will get to take home all of the things that they made. And this class isn't just for kids. Parents are more than welcome to join their children in the class (at no extra charge). Instructor: Magic Team of Gary Kantor Location: Iowa Community Center, Villa Park Code Day 107104-01 Tu Date 05/07 Time 6:00 - 7:15 pm R/NR Fee $25/$35 DINING ETIQUETTE AND SOCIAL SKILLS (Ages 6-12) The objective of this hands-on session is to teach modern guidelines for dining so participants feel comfortable, confident, and in control during mealtime situations. It is an effective complement to the Table Monsters class! Topics include setting a proper table, learning appropriate use of utensils and napkins, eating difficult foods with ease, and how to politely leave the table. Students will go home with a folder full of handouts and information covered in class. Instructor: Classy & Confident Kids Academy Location: Sunset Knoll Recreation Center Additional Sibling Fee: $22 Code Day 107107-01 Th Date 05/23 {spring 2013} Time 4:30 - 5:45 pm R/NR Fee $24/$30 FIRST IMPRESSIONS, PROPER INTRODUCTIONS, & WRITING THANK YOU NOTES (Ages 6-12) As the old saying goes, "You have only one chance to make a good first impression." This session is designed to instill in participants the importance of good manners when being introduced to people for the first time. Children will also learn how to introduce themselves and others and will be taught the basic guidelines of writing thank you notes as of means of showing someone they are appreciated. Through this session participants will learn through role playing, interacting with each other, and will practice actual supplies such as cards, markers, pens, rubber stamps, and stickers. Students will go home with a folder full of handouts and information covered in class. Instructor: Classy & Confident Kids Academy Location: Sunset Knoll Recreation Center Additional Sibling Fee: $22 Code Day 207106-01 Th Date 06/20 Time 4:30 - 5:45 pm R/NR Fee $24/$30 TABLE MONSTERS: WAYS TO COUNTER THESE CREATURES AT MEAL TIME (Ages 6-12) In this class, children learn about unacceptable ways to act during mealtime. For example, Cranky Pants comes to the table with a frown on its face and bad attitude, while Slobber Gobble Rex talks its way through the meal with spaghetti, beans, and other food flying all over everyone and everything. With a cheery approach, youngsters have fun relating to the Monsters. They work with leaders to identify the proper behaviors to rid mealtime of these creatures. Students will go home with a folder full of handouts and information covered in class.
