28 D A N C E / LOMBARDPARKS DANCE TEAM TECHNIQUE (Ages 5-14) Learn the basics of pom pom and jazz dance and have fun making up new routines and dances. Participants should bring pom poms to class and wear jazz shoes. Class Will Not Meet On: 11/23, 11/26 Instructor: Rebecca Robertstad (Th); Ashley Silha (M) HIP HOP (Ages 5-11) Learn the latest funky craze in hip hop steps as we jam to the latest trendy music! In this class we will learn the techniques of street dance. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes. Class Will Not Meet On: 11/25 Instructor: Arianna Robertson TWIRLING TODDLERS (Ages 2-3 and a parent) Parents can join their tot in this new class where you will explore sound, imagination and movement to dance the class away! Ballet shoes required. Class Will Not Meet On: 11/28 Instructor: Arianna Robertson INSPIRE DANCE TEAM (Ages 5-14) Join the award-winning Inspire Dance Team! The team competes in local competitions on Saturdays and Sundays in the spring and performs in the annual dance recital. Each team practices twice a week, once for their routine and second for dance technique. The dance technique class is exclusively for Inspire Dance Team members. In addition to weekly practices, commitment to the team includes purchasing one dance costume and warm-up jacket. Please note: Mini Jazz team does not require team placement, but dancers are encouraged to come at 12:00 pm to meet the coaches and try a class! The poms program consists of three competitive pom levels: Minis (ages 5-8), Juniors (ages 9-11) and Seniors (ages 12-17). Depending on enrollment, more teams may be added to each age level. The team will learn skills such as kicks, turns and jumps, and then use what they learn to develop a routine. From February to April, the team will compete against other park districts in 3-4 meets, hosted on weekends. The season will end with a final performance at Kids Day in Lilacia Park and participation in the Lilac Day Parade in May. Commitment to the squad includes the purchase of team uniforms, poms and weekly attendance at practices on Monday nights. Come check out our free introductory practice the first week of the season (registration required). Parents and participants who are interested in finding out more about the program and meeting Head Coach Lauren are strongly encouraged to attend the information session.
