This program is specifically designed for growing minds and bodies to enhance memory and agility. Watch your child's confidence blossom and their skills improve. Parent/Child Karate (Ages 7+): Parent/ Child classes are a great way to spend quality time with your child, condition your muscles, develop coordination and improve your cardiovascular fitness. Please note: fees are per person. Youth/Adult Karate (Ages 7+): These classes release tension, develop total body fitness, and build stamina and overall productivity! In addition to self-defense skills, karate increases flexibility, cardiovascular endurance and muscle tone, while improving core strength. AT A GLANCE Illinois Shotokan Karate Club is Chicagoland's premier karate school taught under the instruction of John DiPasquale, a four-time National Champion, U.S. National Coach and President of the U.S. National Karate Federation. ISKC's karate classes help develop flexibility, strength and coordination in fun, yet disciplined activities. This program offers a mix of strength training, with cardiovascular and flexibility exercises to increase coordination, agility and safety skills. Students will learn choreographed moves of the kata. Please note: uniforms and belt testing are options available through the ISKC instructor. Beginner students will not be permitted to register for the current session after the second class has met. Registration for continuers through advanced students will be accepted after the start date, but the full class fee is required. Parent/Child and Youth/ Adult classes may train together. TAI CHI CHUAN (Ages 13+) Through practice your mind can achieve a stillness and clarity rarely experienced with other forms of exercise; integrating your body, mind and spirit and allowing you to achieve inner peace. This class will help you develop a harmony with the world on a physical, mental, emotional and ultimately, spiritual level. This calmness pervades your whole body, leaving you less stressed and more refreshed at the end of the day. Practice strengthens the immune system, improves posture, balance, coordination, flexibility and strength, reduces blood pressure, stress, and releases tension allowing a feeling of positive energy to flow through your body. Sensei Matt is a third degree black belt who teaches the traditional style of Okinawan karate, designed for youth, teens and adults. Uniforms may be purchased through the instructor for $30 for youth and $35 for adults. Please note: parents can participate with their enrolled children for no additional charge.
