ABOUT THE PLAY Many moons ago in a far-off place, Queen Aggravain decreed no couples could marry until her son, Prince Dauntless, found a bride. Princesses came from far and wide to win the hand of the prince, but none could pass the impossible tests given to them by the Queen. That is, until the shy swamp princess, Winnifred the Woebegone, showed up. Would she be able to pass the test, marry her prince and help Lady Larkin and Sir Harry to the altar? Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the classic tale The Princess and the Pea provides some side-splitting shenanigans. For after all, a princess is a delicate thing. NEW! SUMMER 2022 YOUTH THEATRE PRODUCTION (Ages 8-14) Lombard Park District is proud to announce the launch of its premiere recreational youth theatre program. Actors in grades 3-8 will work together to create quality, age-appropriate productions suitable for family viewing. Auditions are required in order to be a part of the cast. This will allow us to assess the comfort level of children as performers, evaluate their skills and find the role that will best suit their personality and talent. There is no cost to audition. Children will be seen in small groups during their audition time slot. They will be asked to sing 16 bars (measures of music) of a musical theatre song, to learn a short dance with their group and perform it, and possibly to read short scenes from the script (called sides). They will fill out a short audition form listing their possible conflicts and any previous experience and will have a digital photograph taken for the artistic staff 's reference during casting. Casting will be based on availability, ability, and attitude. Cast members will be enrolled in the program as a class and must pay a participation fee. This fee covers professional instruction throughout the process, a copy of the script which performers may keep, a cast t-shirt, and all production costs.
