Get help finding the right words when you attend this no-cost We Need to Talk seminar developed by AARP, The Hartford, and MIT AgeLab. The seminar is FREE and offers practical tips and advice on three main topics:*What driving means to older adults and the emotions they may face when having to give it up.*How to observe a person's driving skills objectively and talk about alternatives to driving.*How to have sensitive conversations about limiting or stopping driving while encouraging independence. It's a difficult conversation to initiate but, with the right tools, you can make a real difference in the life of an older driver. This is your opportunity to not only learn sign language, but to communicate with it. This introductory course will teach basic signs and phrases like "good job" or "you're welcome." Join us as a certified deaf education instructor teaches how to communicate with someone who is deaf or hard-of-hearing. This course also teaches adult/child/infant CPR and AED use. Upon successful completion of the course, including a skills and written test, students receive a Heartsaver First Aid CPR/AED course completion card, valid for two years. Textbook and materials are included in the price of the class. This is an eight-hour course and will be divided into two sessions. This is an OSHA approved certified class. No refunds after 02/26. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. This course also teaches adult/child/infant CPR/AED use. Upon successful completion of the course, including a skills and written test, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. Since 1979, the course has helped more than 15 million drivers learn research based tips to adapt their driving to compensate for physical and cognitive changes that may occur with aging. Plus, you may qualify for a multi-year automobile discount by completing the course (Check with your auto insurance agent for details). Receive a $5 discount when you present AARP card to instructor.
